Our Rating

4.5/5

No kitchen is ever complete without a good food processor. These versatile appliances have long been used by home cooks and professional chefs alike, helping to cut down on prep time, while also ensuring consistent results, and even completing some tasks that would be difficult or impossible to do by hand.

The Hamilton Beach ChefPrep Food Processor is a no-frills food processor that focuses on functionality and performance instead of flashy unneeded features. This economical, simple, and durable food processor is a beast in the kitchen, and can handle an infinite number of tasks.

The ChefPrep Food Processor Review

The ChefPrep performs all of the essential food processor functions with ease. It operates of off 500 watts of power, more than enough to do everything from chop and slice, to liquify and puree.

The dishwasher-safe bowl for the food processor holds up to 10 cups, giving you more than enough room to hold entire heads of lettuce, multiple carrots, onions, apples, or really whatever else you can cram into it. An included chopping blade can process a variety of ingredients, whether it’s soft foods like cheeses and fruits, or harder ones like nuts.

Ease of Cleaning

For slicing and shredding, simply install the disc on the top of the bowl, and then use the shaft and food pusher to lower the foods into the disc, getting consistent and precise slices or shreds each time.

Two blade speeds and an additional pulse button give you more control over how to process your foods as well, which can be especially helpful for softer items like cheeses.

When you’re done, you can then wrap the cord around the base of the ChefPrep, and then throw the bowl and blades into the dishwasher. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.

What We Like

Large Chutes

The simplicity of the ChefPrep is a major asset. There’s really no learning curve at all, everything is very self-explanatory, and the blades are easy to get set up.

The 500 watts of power is plenty when using the high speed, and the added pulse control is a very welcome feature that comes in handy nearly every time you use the ChefPrep. We also like the spacious bowl size, and the fact that everything is dishwasher safe.

Finally, the price is very affordable, and makes the ChefPrep accessible to most any budget.

What Needs Work

The disc only offers a shred or slice, so it would be nice to have an additional disc that can create different styles of cuts.

The Verdict

Overall, the Hamilton Beach ChefPrep Food Processor performs admirably, with just the right amount of speed and slicing options to give it the versatility that every food processor should have.

We consider a food processor to be an essential kitchen appliance, so if you’re looking for a high-quality, name brand model that can do everything a food processor should, provide a large capacity, and still stay at a low price, this is what you should purchase.
